Medical Freedom with Dr. Mary Ruwart

“Dr. Mary Ruwart joins me to talk about self-ownership, medical freedom and the seemingly radical idea of the Separation of Church and State.

Dr. Ruwart is a very warm, compassionate and intelligent person who truly believes, as I do, that the principles of individual liberty are the best ideas to organize a society upon.

We discuss her most recent book “Death By Regulation.” Dr. Ruwart makes the compelling case that the increased FDA regulatory authority granted by the 1962 Drug Amendment Act has led to a stifling of innovation, the massive increase in drug costs and the death of nearly 15,000,000 Americans.”

FDA Creates Senseless Suffering

“The 1962 Amendments to the Food & Drug Act were intended to prevent drug disasters like the European drug, thalidomide, which caused babies to be born with missing limbs. However, these regulations made it virtually impossible for manufacturers to tell the American public about the preventative effects of vitamins and minerals. In the 1980s, we knew that the B vitamin, folic acid, could almost completely eliminate certain types of serious birth defects.

The FDA told folic acid manufacturers they would be prosecuted if they talked about these studies or if they pointed out that the Center for Disease Control, another government body, was recommending that young women take folic acid as a preventative. Consequently, at least 10,000 babies were born needlessly deformed, while many others were aborted. The Amendments caused an ‘American thalidomide’, the very problem they were intended to prevent, demonstrating that bad laws can have side effects just as deadly as bad drugs.” – Dr. Mary J. Ruwart

How Government Keeps Us Sick

Mary Ruwart is a PhD chemist who worked for 20 years in Big Pharma, and she’s seen regulatory capture at the FDA up close. She joins Mises Weekends to discuss the sobering reality of our medical cartel, and what all of us must do in the fight for health freedom in the US.

How does government thwart radical research that might eliminate cancer, HIV, and chronic diseases like diabetes? Who really funds the FDA? Why do doctors go along with it? Can we measure how many deaths the FDA causes each year, rather than prevents? And will health supplements or alternative health modalities remain legal and widely available in the US?
